Indian founded MobileIron raises $9 Million

Bangalore: MobileIron, a smartphone software startup firm located in Sunnyvale has raised $9 million in venture funding, from Norwest Venture Partners, Storm Ventures and Sequoia Capital. MobileIron, co-founded by two Indians, Suresh Batchu and Ajay Mishra, wants to provide businesses with specialized data in order to increase smartphone security and potentially cut costs, reports Information Week. The California based firm, is looking to capitalize on the growing number of companies using smartphones. MobileIron is a company with 40 employees, which had been working on the development of a data management platform for smartphones, for two years in stealth mode. The company's virtual smartphone platform is a device-agnostic tool that runs in the background of the device and relays usage information to an application behind the corporate firewall. This data can be used by IT companies to determine how to efficiently allocate resources for their enterprise mobility strategies.
