Narcissists are a pro at insisting on something that he has said (even though he might not have ever discussed it) and denying a conversation (that actually took place). So keep a track of all conversations with him. In case you are blamed for missing a project, or losing an important lead, you have the backup, which can save your day. But remember pointing out his mistakes might be the biggest mistake you can ever commit. So make sure that you have all the conversations recorded, and if necessary use it as a trump, but tell him that he might have had something of higher priority on his mind, which made him overlook the detail.
