Santa Clara: Citrix Systems has made an investment in California-based Core Mobile Networks, making the third funding for the Citrix Startup Accelerator, which is its Silicon Valley-based seed investment initiative, which was launched in December 2010. Core Mobile mobilizes the cloud by correlating information from enterprise IT systems with content in the cloud and delivering it to mobile devices in real time with far more contextual relevance. They will initially target mobile business professionals using the Apple, iPhone and the Google Android-based smartphone platforms.
With $1.87 billion in revenue and $227 million in profit in 2010, Citrix Systems is a provider of virtual computing solutions that help people work and play from anywhere on any device. With more than 230,000 enterprises relaying on them to create better ways for people, IT and business to work through virtual meetings, desktops and datacenters, the company currently partners with over 10,000 companies in 100 countries.
Focused on entrepreneur-led innovation, the Citrix Startup Accelerator looks for new technologies and business models that have the potential to enable new capabilities and SaaS. They not only provide seed investments to select start-ups, but also enables them to benefit from the global Citrix presence and large customer base. The current investment in Core Mobile follows funding commitments made to Primadesk and an undisclosed company further expanding the Citrix Startup Accelerator portfolio.
John McIntyre, Senior Director, Citrix Startup Accelerator, said, "Core Mobile addresses a gap in delivering useful content to end users of cloud-based services with a technology that identifies the most relevant subset of content, correlates it across multiple sources and delivers it via a user-friendly interface that fits the small display of a smartphone-all in real time."
Core Mobile Networks was founded in 2008 by Chandra Tekwani, and the founding team performed extensive market analysis in 2009 and determined the need of correlate content across enterprises. Tekwani says, "The popularity of the cloud and rapid growth in smartphone and tablet adoption by business users is creating the need for enterprise IT to make cloud-based services more easily accessible from mobile devices."
