The fast-food entrepreneur and philanthropist, David “Dave” Thomas was born to a young unmarried woman he never knew. He was adopted by Rex and Auleva Thomas six weeks after his birth. After the death of his adoptive mother, when he was only five, his father remarried three times. Till the age of 13, he was ignorant about his being an adopted kid. He was a school dropout and left home after the 10th grade and founded the Wendy’s franchise restaurant chain in 1969. Later on, he founded the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
