The former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian Test cricket team, is at present the third highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, and is considered as one of the greatest spinners of all time. Being a studious child, he achieved a distinction in his class of mechanical engineering. He has been appointed to the athlete's commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency, since 2009; and was elected as the president of the Karanataka State Cricket Association. Kumble floated his own startup venture, 'Tenvic', in January 2011, which will focus on providing sports education and training in mainstream schools across India. It is proposed to cater to multi sport discipline. The verticals would focus on sports education and training for schools, training for corporate, and life skill training for former sportsmen to help them earn their livelihood.
