Snapdeal Acquires Shopo.in, A Handicraft Online Market Place

We are delighted to announce an acquisition by Snapdeal, India’s largest marketplace, and are confident that Snapdeal will give our sellers a larger audience that would love the ethnic and Indian design products that we have.”

Snapdeal was founded in 2010 by Kunal Bahl, a Wharton graduate along with his IIT Delhi batch mate Rohit Bansal.  Snapdeal started as a daily discount deals engine to an online marketplace, which later revamped its business model to become an online retailer itself.  Its existing investors include Bessemer Venture Partners, Nexus Venture Partners and Indo-US Venture Partners. The other acquisitions by Snapdeal include, a Bangalore-based group buying site, Grabbon.com, which was acquired in 2010 and in April last year it acquired esportsbuy.com, an online sports goods retailer.
