Skype arrives for iPad after a long wait!

Bangalore: After a long time lag, people got a quick glance of Skype's official iPad application. But it was subsequently pulled out, as it was ahead of schedule. However, the much expected application is now officially available for download. Skype tweeted early this morning, "We know you've been eagerly awaiting Skype for iPad and apologize for the inconvenience. To ensure your best Skype experience, we've temporarily removed Skype for iPad which went live prematurely today," Microsoft has recently bought Skype for $ 8.5 billion and announced that it had seen growing demand for an iPad application ever since, and released the iPad application to the iTunes Application Store today. The iOS version of Skype at the iPhone has been available since January 2010, but now it's ready to advantage of the iPad's larger screen and it also features a grid display for contacts which makes navigation easier to make contacts, instant messaging during calls, and SMS texting by using dial pad. Skype for iPad takes full advantage of iPad's dual cameras, which allows the user to switch between face to face video and rear camera view of what the user can see. It works across 3G and Wi-Fi networks, allowing users to make voice and video calls to other Skype user on iPhones, Mac, Windows, HDTVs. Skype for iPad is free and runs on iOS 4.0. Users with the iPhone version on their iPad need to download the iPad appplication separately.
