Simmtronics unveils new memory modules for desktops and notebooks
Bangalore: Simmtronics Semiconductors, a memory module manufacturing company, has launched 2GB DDR3-1333 MHz 240-pin DIMMs for both desktops and notebooks. It is targeted at power users including gamers, animators and graphic designers. DDR3 is the successor to DDR2 Memory. As compared to the former, it offers faster transfer speed and better bandwidth with an 8-bit as opposed to 4-bit prefetch buffer, and is a match for modern systems using dual or quad-core processors. "We are confident that our customers will appreciate the reliable high quality, excellent compatibility, and stable operation that our new DDR3 Memory Modules offer," says Vinit Shangle, National Sales Manager of Simmtronics Semiconductors. The operating voltage of DDR3 Memory Modules offers reduction in power consumption of 30 percent compared 1.8V to 1.5V, thus reducing actual memory power consumption by 20-30 percent. The Memory Modules are built to the highest specifications with materials and chipsets from Hynix and Samsung. It can transfer data at a rate of 800–1600 MHz using both rising and falling edges of a 400–800 MHz I/O clock. These modules have 240 pins and are the same size as the DDR2, but are electrically incompatible and have a different key notch location. The products are currently available in 2GB capacity with warranty limited to five years, a country-wide service network and are priced at Rs 3400.
