Peter Drucker once said, "Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes." These companies' survival in this world is a result of leaders whose immense potential and objectives are justified. Hence, we witness progress when these leaders of such skills seize the opportunity to seek changes in the workplace for the better.
In order to honor the commitments of these leaders in the industry's growth, siliconindia and Mentor Graphics together organized a Leadership Awards ceremony to honor the companies who have made a difference in the Indian Semiconductor industry. The event saw over 100 companies participating, both established and startups.
The event kickstarted with a session on "Closing India's Innovation Gap: Reigniting the Spark of Creativity in a Consumption Economy." The speakers in the panel included Wally Rhines, CEO and Chairman, Mentor Graphics; Guru Ganesan, Managing Director, ARM-India Operations; Santhanakrishnan Raman, Managing Director, India, LSI; Vinay Shenoy, Managing Director, Infineon Technologies India; Sanjay Nayak, CEO & Managing Director, Tejas Networks; and Vinod P Deshmukh, President , Technology & Products, Product Engineering Services, MindTree. The speakers gave an insight into the country's consumer behavior and needs, the market opportunities and challenges. Talking about the present scenario, Sanjay Nayak said, "Companies today, build mostly India centric products. The need of the hour is build products of global class which is better for India. This would see India in the limelight." Despite increasing local electronics consumption, the pace of innovation in semiconductor/ embedded design is lackluster. Is India losing at the innovation game? The speakers gave vast information about the present scenario that India is facing and the difficulties that startups come across while initiating the company and its early progress. Talking to the various startups about driving innovation, Vinay Shenoy advised "learn to walk before you run".
