Samsung launches digital video store, Media Hub
Bangalore: Samsung has announced the launch of Media Hub, a digital video store for its phones and tablet. The store will initially offer movies and day-after TV shows from NBC, Paramount, Universal and Warner. The content can be either rented or purchased. The announcement of the video store came during the release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet in U.S. The content will be DRM protected but can be shared between five phones or tablets. Content can be downloaded over 3G and Wi-Fi. Unlike many devices, including Samsung Galaxy Tab, the Media Hub content cannot be transmitted to TV screens or any other external screen. Samsung Galaxy S smartphones will be able to access Media Hub by end of this month. Samsung is also in talks with ABC for content generation in the video store. Samsung in many ways is following Apple's footsteps in offering movies, music and TV shows like the latter does through its iTunes store.
