New York: Savvn, a digital distributor of Bollywood music and movies, has released Masters of Bollywood: A R Rahman, a music album showcasing Rahman's 20 best songs, including a track from his latest work in Delhi 6, which hits theaters in February.
The new album, Saavn officials said, is aimed at a growing consumer demand for music from the award-winning composer of Slumdog Millionaire. It's available for download on leading online music download services.
"We are committed to providing a gateway to Bollywood music for people around the world, and we are particularly proud and excited for the recognition of A.R. Rahman's work on Slumdog Millionaire," said Vin Bhat, Chief Executive Officer of the New York-based Saavn.
The album's highlights include, 'Masakali' from Delhi 6, his latest work, as well as 'Guzarish' from Ghajini, 'Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi' from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, and 'Khwaja Mere Khwaja' from Jodhaa Akbar - all among the top 5 Bollywood albums of 2008. The album also includes classic tracks from celebrated albums like Saathiya and 1947 Earth.
Rahman is among the best-selling musicians of all time, with estimated sales topping 100 million records. He shot to fame in 1992 with Roja, earning Rahman his first of three National Film Awards, considered the equivalent of the Oscars in India.
