Renesas Mobile Corporation launches R&D centre in India

Bangalore: Renesas Mobile Corporation, (RMC), a subsidiary of Renesa Electronics, has announced its research and development (R&D) centre in Bangalore, India. The R&D centre will develop 2G, 3G and 4G modem technologies. Renesas Mobile provides complete cellular chipset platform solutions including powerful applications processors, leadership and industry reference cellular modems, highly integrated radio frequency devices and intelligent power management solutions. In the new R&D centre, the company will implement 2G, 3G and 4G modem technologies that will deliver dual and triple mode of communication. They have also demonstrated the technologies, 2G that is called VAMOS, enables significant increase of users in 2G cellular network, which can double the network capacity. 3G calls HSDPA data transfer and LTE enable faster data rates, higher spectral efficiency and lower latency for interactive time critical applications. Heikki Tenhunen, Senior Vice President (RMC),said, "Renesas Mobile India is a key R&D centre in wireless modem technology, performing leading edge technology development, as exemplified by the demonstrations in the opening ceremony, where VAMOS calls (2G), HSDPA data transfer (3G) and LTE data transfer, were demonstrated with Renesas Mobile Corporation chipsets. In addition to 2G, 3G, and LTE, Renesas Mobile India is performing core technology development within TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE technologies." Allan Frederiksen, Managing Director of Renesas Mobile India,said, "Renesas Mobile India is contributing in every aspect of product creation from 3GPP standardization, to system design, to implementation and customer support, and is a full-capability R&D centre."
