Bangalore: The Green IT awards, sponsored by Green IT Magazine, recognize the outstanding environmental products, suppliers and projects, and highlight the companies and teams that have made significant contributions to improving the IT industry's environmental performance. For the year 2010, it is Raritan, a proven innovator of power management, infrastructure management, KVM and serial solutions for data centers, which has won the Green IT Award in the 'Hardware Product of the Year' category for its Dominion PX intelligent power distribution unit (PDU). It helps data centers measure power usage accurately by providing power information to help answer key data center questions, such as 'where servers should be placed for optimal efficiency,' and 'which rack has available capacity.' Moreover, the company's energy management software, Power IQ, has also won a runner-up award in the 'Minister of Energy' category. It collects and analyzes energy data of IT equipment connected to Raritan's Dominion PX PDU and third-party Ethernet-enabled intelligent rack PDUs, as well as data center temperature and humidity. The winners of this year's Green IT awards were announced at an awards ceremony held on Earth Day, April 22, in London. "Today, as organizations move towards the Green IT movement and understand what is happening within their IT environment in terms of power consumption, the demand for Green products will rise", said Sanjay Motwani, Regional Manager, India and Middle East, Raritan. Raritan's goal is to help customers reduce energy costs and their carbon footprint by providing them with a systematic, auditable approach through our green technology, said Motwani.
