Andy Grove

Grove is a Hungarian born American businessman who is an engineer, author, and a science pioneer in the semiconductor industry. He co-founded Intel along with his colleagues Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore in 1968 and became the COO where he directed all the management functions and became the CEO in 1987. When he was the CEO at Intel, the stock value increased making it world’s most valuable companies. In 1980s with Grove’s managing developments and promotions of Intel’s microprocessors, they were used to power all IBM PCs as well as those of IBMs competitors. Grove is known as the “guy who drove the growth phase” of Silicon Valley. He received many awards like the IEEE engineering Leadership Recognition award in 1987, the AEA Medal of Achievement award in 1993. Time magazine chose him as the “CEO of the year” and “Man of the Year” in 1997.
