Chennai: Patton Electronics, a U.S. based manufacturer of data communication products, today announced the launch of its Indian subsidiary, Patton India.
Talking to SiliconIndia, Robert R. Patton, President, Patton Electronics, said, "After a robust growth in the U.S. and European markets, Patton has set its eyes on the emerging markets. We have been distributing our products in India for a long time but now we have decided to launch our operations here."
With its India operations, the company also hopes to expand its presence in the Asia Pacific region with focus on Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore. Initially, the India subsidiary will only house the marketing and the technical support operations. To set up an R&D center and a manufacturing unit are the company?s plans for near future.
"In India we want to serve the middle market, i.e. providing data communication solutions for enterprise use. Patton has a strong foothold in VoIP solutions and we see a great need of these solutions in the Indian market," said Andreas Danuser, Director, Patton India.
Patton India has been formed from its long term alliance with Microsense, earlier a distributor of Patton products in India. The team working for Patton has now branched out to form the Indian subsidiary. Initially, the company will have a headcount of 40, which it gradually plans to increase to 100.
Patton Electronics is a privately held $100 million company headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Established in 1984, the company has over 1000 products, 500 customers and 200 distributors in its portfolio.
