Passport queries through SMS in Lucknow

Lucknow: The regional passport office here Friday launched the country's first passport inquiry service through SMS messages in association with the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL). "This year alone we have received 250,000 applications. To inquire about their passport status, applicants either call up, visit the office or access the internet, but all these modes are limited," said Zahur H. Zaidi, regional passport officer, Lucknow. But the new service being offered should help those seeking queries about their passports.
