Palm answers iPhone with Palm Pre
Bangalore: A U.S, mobile products company, Palm has come up with a new multi-touch smartphone, Palm Pre. The phone, introduced as a competition to the iPhone, is available at Sprint stores for $200. The phone has a new operating system called the webOS which allows the user to open multiple applications at one time. Unlike the iPhone, webOS notifies the user about events that require attention, regardless of which application the user is using at that time. Notification icons for e-mails and calls emerge at the bottom of the screen. The screen diagonal is 3.1 inches. The surface just below the screen is touch-sensitive and a keyboard slides out from underneath the screen. The Palm Pre has a 3-megapixel camera, but has a very little shutter lag. This phone has features like, Wi-Fi, Global Positioning System (GPS) and an online store for applications. The user can zoom in and out on Web pages by pinching and spreading with two fingers, just like on the iPhone. The Pre has 8 gigabytes of built-in storage memory.
