Oracle India and Startup Village Will Work Together to Help 30,000 Kerala Engineering Students

“Startup Village is dedicated to developing technology education programs that foster a highly-trained and entrepreneurial workforce to drive innovation and start=up technologies,” said Sanjay Vijayakumar, Chairperson of the Governing Board of Startup Village. “A shortage of skilled IT staff can limit productivity and growth and may lead to delays with business IT implementations. By working with Oracle Academy, we can help strengthen our engineering programs in Kerala and help our engineering students to become startups and set up their own enterprises”.

“The Oracle Academy provides educational institutions with access to changing curriculum and access to leading technology that enables students to gain 21st century skills for successful IT careers,” said Krishna Sistla, Senior Director, Oracle Education Initiatives, Oracle Asia Pacific. “As a result the program helps produce high-trained graduates with the computer science and technology skills needed in almost every sector of the Indian marketplace.”

Startup Village CEO Sijo Kurvilla said our target for the first year is to support 100 institutions, 10,000 students, and 200 faculties as they fully integrate the Oracle Academy’s curriculum and resources. This effort will allow us to quickly roll the program out to our students, allow us to more easily add additional institutions to meet demand, and, most importantly, help our students start developing the critical skills needed to be successful in the marketplace. Once the initial group of faculty is trained, they will be permitted to use the Oracle Academy infrastructure to train other trainers. We will also be extending Advanced Computer Science offerings for 100 departments and 100 institutions.’’
