New Delhi: Telecom operators today welcomed the nationwide roll-out of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) services, stating that the move will "liberate" telecom users from non-performing service providers.
"As a Tata Group company, we have always felt that the power of choice should be left to the customers. MNP will be a great leveller, because it will liberate telecom users and give them the power of choice," TTSL Mobility Business Division Executive President Deepak Gulati told PTI.
The nationwide roll-out of mobile number portability (MNP) was flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"We have been strong advocates of MNP for years and we welcome the new regime that begins today. This is the beginning of an era, which will give new direction to the Indian telecom industry," Gulati added.
MNP services were first launched in Haryana in November last year.
