Olive to launch India's first HSPA+ smartphone

Bangalore: As promised earlier, Olive Telecom has is going to launch India's first HSPA+ (Evolved High Speed Packet Access and technically 4G) phone powered by Android OS on February 9. Olive has sent out an invite to the media to attend the launch of its new smartphone and not many specifications are known as of now. Olive Telecom's CEO Arun Khanna said the company plans to introduce Android 2.2 Froyo based smartphones by March 2011. The media invite which shows Aircel and Qualcomm as participants indicates that Aircel will be partnering with Olive and will be run on its network while the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm processor.
