Now post video tweets on Twitter
Bangalore: The users of the micro blogging site Twitter will soon be able to post video tweets in addition to text tweets, as the upgrade is being planned in order to modernize the site. The upgrade is being discussed by its founders, and will enable the users to upload brief video snippets to their profiles directly from mobile phones, laptops and other devices, reports Telegraph. The third party sites such as Twiddeo and Tweetube already allow the Twitter users to post video tweets but only by creating links to their sites. Both these services have failed so far to gain popularity in terms of external service Twitpic. The founders of the microblogging site hope to boost its prominence as a fashionable social networking tool by adding video tweeting. In past few weeks, British singer Lily Allen and Hannah Montana actress Miley Cyrus have closed their Twitter accounts. Among the Britain's biggest tweeters, Stephen Fry has 810,000 followers, Sarah Brown, the Prime Minister's wife, has 840,000 followers, and rock group Coldplay have more than two million followers. Sarah Brown's Twitter following is already believed to be five times larger than the entire membership of the Labour party. Though the site has been a destination for posting daily activities, it has also played a role in news events, as it was an active platform for protesters during the Iranian elections. In January, a ferry passenger was the first person to post pictures of people being rescued from an airliner which has crash landed in New York's Hudson River. U.S. President Barack Obama and some British politicians used the site as a campaign tool in favor of the National Health Services (NHS). The site has yet to make a profit or find a way of making money, but it is valued at 603 million pounds.
