Now Facebook, Twitter in textbooks?
Bangalore: Britain is planning to include social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter in the school curriculum. The "English Studies: Digital Communication" would require pupil to understand the sites as part of the social curriculum under the plans of new English GCSE, according to PTI. Teenagers could take this course as a stand alone subject or alongside traditional English language and literature papers, reports The Telegraph. Facebook and Twitter are often described as distracter by many companies and hence has been banned in offices. Education campaigners have condemned the idea as "dumbing down" saying it was a distraction from the essential skills pupils should be learning.
