Bangalore: Buoyed by a large customer base, mobile handset manufacturer Nokia said it would focus more on enhancing its 'services' portfolio. "An average customer expects more from a mobile phone," said D Shivakumar, Vice-President and Managing Director of Nokia India. Nokia was offering a wide range of services because of its customer base and "What the consumers expect from their mobile phone," said Shivakumar. In Bangalore alone, he said, more than 50 percent of customers listen to radio using their mobile phones, while more than 95 percent users prefer to take pictures using their phones than a camera. Customers expect much more from their mobile phones as they are living life virtually on their mobile phone 24x7. "We have to develop applications relating to what consumers expect," said Shivakumar. 'Nokia LifeTools', a service which the company has launched contains agricultural information that enables farmers to access latest mandi rates and or learn spoken English using their mobiles. According to Shivakumar, more than 200 million people in India use a Nokia phone and globally the number is more than a billion.
