Helsinki: Bringing the total number of claims to 37, Nokia has filed another 13 new patent infringement claims against its U.S. rival Apple.
The leading cellphone maker has filed the suits against Apple in the U.K., Germany, and the Netherlands, saying that Apple has used its technology in iPhones and iPads. As per Nokia's charges in the U.K. High Court, Apple has violated four patents related to the use of a "touch user interface" and "on-device app stores," among others, reports Don Reisinger of Cnet News.
Nokia has filed seven patent-infringement claims against Apple in two German district courts, accusing that apart from the use of the touch user interface, Apple has also sullied patents related to messaging, caller ID services, and "display illumination". On the other hand, Nokia's Netherlands claims cover two patent-infringement claims related to signal noise suppression and data card functionality.
It was in 2009 when Nokia filed its first patent-infringement claim against Apple. Apple has also sued Nokia over patents last December. However, the two have repeatedly denied each other's claims.
