New breed of entrepreneurs to come from villages?
Bangalore: Praveen Vishakantaiah, President of Intel India, believes that in 2020 entrepreneurs will not only come from metropolitans but India will also see the rise of young entrepreneurs from its villages. Abdul Kalam's dream Vision 2020 will largely depend on the transformation of rural India - comprising more than 900 million people, and it can be achieved only by ensuring physical, electronic and knowledge connectivity. The pursuit of electronic connectivity through means of installation of internet, e-governance and e-commerce would help in putting India on the global map. Speaking at Bangalore IT.biz, organized by Karnataka Government, Vishakantaiah said, "Connecting rural India with technology is major challenge for the Indian government, but I think that by 2020, technology will be able to reach all the colleges and schools located in the villages. This will not only make rural people more informed, but they can also access lots of interaction going on virtually and globally." Vishakantaiah said, "The event like Bangalore IT.biz will not be limited to cities, but will be organized in smaller cities like Hassan and Tiruchirapalli, and attract people from all parts of the world. In 2020, it will be called as 'Global Premiere ICT event'." But the question is that how will this transformation happen? Vishakantaiah said, "Government needs to take initiative and strengthen the technology infrastructure, adopt the technology in better way and work on the technology innovation. 2020 will be the year, when whole world will try to know that how India increased its global impact through technology." India's mission 2020 lays emphasis on transforming India into a major global power and a developed nation by laying emphasis on education, communication and information technology, infrastructure development and self reliance.
