Narayana Health, India's First Healthcare Chain To Set-Up A Hospital In The Western World

Commenting about this expansion, Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Vice Chairman, MD & Group CEO, Narayana Health said,” Setting up the Health City in Cayman Islands was a strategic decision by the Group, as it has a well-developed infrastructure, and is high on tourism. The Cayman Islands have a safe and stable economy and is geographically positioned to serve the Caribbean and the Americas. Our tertiary care hospital will provide the much-needed healthcare solutions to the Island, as well as to the greater Caribbean region. HCCI is an opportunity to demonstrate how the Group’s high-quality, low-cost healthcare model can be successful and impactful in a Western environment.”

HCCI is staffed by clinical and administrative professionals from two continents and three nations and will employ close to 140 people including physicians, registered nurses, paramedical professionals, support and administrative staff. The majority of the clinical staff is from Narayana Health (NH) in India with doctors trained and worked in the UK or US.  Majority of the clinicians from NH have worked together as a team in India, and they have been specifically trained to support a ‘world culture’ at HCCI where a patients from across the world will feel at ease.

Acknowledging the support given by the Government of Grand Cayman, Dr. Raghuvanshi said, “The Government of Cayman Islands was also encouraging as it created an environment to broaden the economic base to allow for new jobs and careers in healthcare as well as to develop new business opportunities. We are happy that the doctors with Indian medical degrees have been recognized by the Grand Cayman governing body.”
