Sal Khan (Entrepreneur): Salman Khan or Sal Khan worked as a hedge fund analyst before he started using online technology to tutor his cousins and family members to build a great company. Realizing the potential in online touting, nine years later, Khan set up his nonprofit organization known as ‘Khan Academy’. The
academy that works on the same approach, now offers more than 5,000 free web-based video lessons to millions of students across the globe, upsetting not only schools but also the education industry built around it.
For the first nine months, Khan managed to look after his venture with his own savings until he received his first major donation from Ann Doerr—an American venture capitalist—In September 2010. Khan Academy also received larger funds from Tech giants like Google ($2 million) and the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation ($1.5 million) to establish ‘Khan Academy’ into a successful organization.
