Moser Baer's Downfall: What Startups Should Be Aware of

2. When the Going Goes Tough, Pivot

In 2005, when Moser Baer realized that optical storage was out-of-date, they took another risk. The company went into the business of Solar panels. This worked well for sometime until China invaded the business again.

What is working today for you will probably be outdated tomorrow. What is hot today will lose its effectiveness tomorrow. At such tough times, change the way you think, change the way you act and look at your client from another angle. Ask someone else what they see. Don't rely on what you think you know, go and find out what others know. If you wait for your clients to come to you, it's too late. Others have great ideas, just like you do. So, do something which is better than everyone.

It is great and essential to have a plan. But, if you’re following it step by step, you might just miss out on an opportunity to change something, even just a little thing, that could make your business all the more successful. So keep an open mind and never stop thinking about ways to pivot in your business, especially during hard times.
