Bangalore: By next year people can travel with one card for all modes of transport across India. Shortly the single ticketing system is introducing in the country where people can travel in buses, metros, trains and ferries and also can pay for parking and toll fees across the country. Travelling by air is the only division that the ministry has not included in the Indian Mobility Card Project.

Kamal Nath, the union urban development minister unveiled ‘More’ or the National Mobility Card recently."One of the biggest pressures of urbanization is on urban mobility. Unless there is efficient mobility, unless the delivery modes are efficient you cannot disperse urbanization.” Said Kamal Nath, reports The Financial Express.

Jaipur City Transport Service has already signed the agreement and the card will be accepted in buses across Rajasthan by March 2011. Currently, Delhi, Karnataka, Bhopal and Mumbai are in advanced stage of accepting this agreement. People in Mumbai, those who have monthly passes will get this opportunity.

The ministry is planning to install parking meters in all metro cities. To a certain extent project ‘More’ will be funded by Central Government. Though ‘More’ would take 5 years to become operational in India, said by a ministry official.

The difference between Bank Cards and Common Mobility Card is that the direct payment will be possible by the Mobility Card rather than through a central office.

Cities like Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Seattle, San Francisco, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Rome where the one card system is already installed.
