More parents allow children to join social network
New York: Liberty Mutual's Responsibility Project revealed in their study that, parents are now, becoming more comfortable with their children using social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Liberty Mutual's Responsibility Project did a survey on 1000 adults and found that 17 percent, that's an increase from the previous year which was only 8 percent, have no issues with their 11 or 12 years children using social media. Many parents said that they monitor on their children 18 or below 18 and however 44 percent parents said they restrict their children on using the Internet. Regarding the cyber bullying, most of the parents feels that with them, teachers and schools should also show the responsibilities towards the matter. However most parents think that children under 18 should not keep their account to themselves and should allow them to monitor it, and 11 percent disclosed that they use social media on behalf of a child or infant. Facebook, the most popular social networking site has more than 500 million active users. From the poll, 90 percent responded that they use Facebook frequently and 6 percent responded that they use LinkedIn, Twitter and MySpace. Facebook also reported some months back that they remove 20000 thousand profiles everyday that are younger than 13 years.
