When the respondents were asked who their role model was, Anna topped the list here as well with 14 percent. Following him closely were Sachin Tendulkar and Rajiv Gandhi who were voted with 6 and 4 percent respectively. Amitabh Bachchan and Virender Sehwag were voted with 3 percent each and Narendra Modi and M.S Dhoni with 2 percent each.

It is also noted that in the political sphere, the fall of the UPA has been accompanied by a rise in the fortunes of the BJP led NDA, though not proportionately. The vote share of the NDA in the latest poll is 28 percent, which has gone up from 25.7 percent in the last Lok Sabha poll.

It was also noted that on the criteria of ‘Who has been the best Prime Minister of India’ Vajpayee has equaled Indira Gandhi with 30 percent votes.

In terms of future leadership, 59 percent prefer Rahul as Sonia's successor as party president, while only 19 percent favor his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. 49 percent favor Rahul as a replacement for Manmohan as prime minister and only 14 percent want Sonia.

The survey was conducted across 19 states, with a sample size of 12,648 voters drawn from 98 randomly selected parliamentary constituencies. The states which are covered in the survey account for 514 of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies.
