Mindblowing Stories Behind 10 World Famous Tech Logos

#1 Canon:

The company is founded by Goro Yoshida in1934 and it produced a prototype first ever 35mm camera with focal plane shutter in Japan.

The company was known under name Kwanon, meaning ‘goddess of mercy’. In 1947 the company’s name is changed to Cannon. The company's first logo had the goddess with thousand hands sitting on a lotus with a ring of fire around. The name Kwanon was spelled under the image in a unique typeface which appeared like flames. On the top of the image, was the word 'camera' written.

Since its name indicates something divine, Cannon effectively captures corporate spirit, aiming global standards for advanced technologies and service while becoming a criterion in the industry to which others will aspire.  The Canon logo, introduced in 1935, has undergone several changes as the company has grown. Despite these modifications, the strong character reflected in the sweeping inward stroke of the "C" has remained intact from the day that the company was founded. Striving for consistency in communication since day one has greatly contributed to the worldwide trust that the Canon brand enjoys today.

The logo failed miserably in the international market, in Europe and the US people could not associate with it. In 1935, the image was dropped and the word Canon was retained. Canon was initially spelt using thin black lines which have been modified over the years. In 1956, a unified version in dark, bold letters was introduced and remained like this for over half a century. Presently, Canon's logo has its name in bold red color, which according to the company symbolizes 'dynamism, innovation, determination and business’.
