Microsoft-Nokia Deal: 'The Big' Indian Hope

This has lead to an investment of $285 million as the facility has rolled out 800 million units by February this year. Thus India is one among the very few profitable markets, making it the second-largest phone market for Nokia, next to China.

India is also among the top three countries in terms of music downloads for Nokia and it also holds a huge developer base for Nokia Apps. Another fact is that Nokia maps with voice-guided navigation are available for over 4000 cities/towns & 12 lakh kilometers.

Another interesting fact is that India is also one among the top three markets for Lumia range globally where the Nokia store for Nokia Asha and s40 devices has achieved cumulative downloads of two billion.
"The performance of the Lumia is not bad, considering that it is a relatively new device and runs on the Windows platform, which is not as popular as Android," said Manasi Yadav, senior market analyst with IDC India.
