Microsoft still sees HP as ally and won't try to propose for Palm
Bangalore: Microsoft Chief Steve Ballmer at a Mexico City conference has denied any significant pressure coming from HP's buyout of palm. He said that there wouldn't be a counter-bid to keep Palm away or get its advantages, such as its patents. Bill Cox, A spokesman for Microsoft, also rejected the idea that the deal might sour HP's relationship with Microsoft by reducing the need for Windows Mobile. HP's buyout of Palm is aimed at tablets and makes it considerably less likely that future HP tablets will run Windows. Also, it has cancelled the courier dual-screen tablet and may have seen HP axe the Windows 7 state that had been heralded as Microsoft's best chance to counter the iPad. "HP is a strategic partner of Microsoft and will continue to be," Cox said.
