Microsoft releases patch to fix 34 vulnerabilities
Seattle: Microsoft has released its biggest patch ever to fix a range of security issues by releasing 13 security bulletins or patches in its monthly update sent to users. This patch will address 34 vulnerabilities identified across Windows, Internet Explorer, Silverlight, Office and other products, according to Economic Times. Microsoft said that six of these patches are high priority and should be installed immediately. This patch also includes fixes for yet to be released Windows 7 operating system which will be released next week. Patches are usually designed to protect users from security glitches which might allow access to hackers or malicious software downloaded from the internet. A fix for Windows 7 even before it is launched should be potentially worrisome for Microsoft. Microsoft is hoping that the success of Windows 7 would wipe out the failure of Vista and help them get more sales. The vulnerabilities in Windows 7, including the risk of having a PC taken over by a hacker, were serious flaws, but to be expected, according to Dave Marcus, Senior Researcher at software security firm McAfee. "As long as human beings are writing code there are always going to be vulnerabilities," he said. The update included the largest number of patches to be issued on a single day by Microsoft.
