MetaRAM to shut down its operations
Bangalore: MetaRAM, an Indian founded firm that included some high-profile executives and investors will close down its operations, reported VentureWire. The semiconductor company, which raised an $8 million Series A round in 2006 has ceased operations, according to the Co-founder and Chief Executive Suresh Rajan. "We are in the process of shutting down the company," he said. The San Jose based company had raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Intel Capital, Khosla Ventures and Storm Ventures. The Wall Street Journal reported that Rajan declined to discuss the company or total funding. The company's technology was designed to reduce the costs of servers and workstations by up to 90 percent. Founded in 2006, MetaRAM had tasked Fred Weber as the CEO of the company, who was the Chief Technology Officer of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) from 1995 to 2005. But, Weber is no longer with MetaRAM and so Rajan has assumed the Chief Executive role. MetaRAM also had on its board of directors Bill Joy, former Chief Scientist of Sun Microsystems and a partner at Kleiner Perkins.
