Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw

The Indian entrepreneur, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is the Chairman & Managing Director of Biocon Limited, a biotechnology company based in Bangalore, India. Under her directions, Biocon today has Asia's largest insulin and statin facilities as also the largest perfusion-based antibody production facilities. Kiran has received several prestigious awards including the Nikkei Asia Prize in 2009 for Regional Growth, Express Pharmaceutical Leadership Summit Award in 2009 for Dynamic Entrepreneur and the Economic Times ‘Businesswoman of the Year’ in 2004. In 2002, she received the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award , followed by awards like the ‘Business Woman of the Year’ Award from the Indian Business Leadership Award committee, CNBC-TV18 in 2006, the Indian Merchants' Chamber Diamond Jubilee Endowment Trust's‘Eminent Businessperson of the Year Award’ in 2006 and the ‘Corporate Leadership Award’ by the American India Foundation  in 2005. She is also included in Forbes list of Asia’s 50 Power Businesswomen.
