Mamata's Political Blockade at the Centre
Indira Bhavan renaming:
The latest opposition from Banerjee’s towards Congress has been over renaming the Indira Bhavan in Kolkata after the famous poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Mamata alleged the Congress was colluding with the CPI-M to attack her party. She accused Congress’s state unit of playing dirty tricks and blocking roads and railways in protest to the government guesthouse Indira Bhawan being renamed Nazrul Bhawan. Banerjee was quoted saying "In West Bengal, the CPI-M and the Congress are working together. Our party men are being attacked at places like Keshpur and Garbeta." She also said that she does not criticize the senior Congress leaders like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Manish Tewari, the Congress spokesperson pointed out that the Congress does respect ‘poets and revolutionaries’, but reminded Banerjee that she too had worked with the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
