Mamta Banerjee is not the only Indian politician to be invited to the Harvard University. In 2006, the then Railway Minister Lalu Yadav was asked to give a lecture to the Harvard students on management skills he had displayed in the complete economic turnaround of Indian Railways.
Describing himself as a Guru, Lalu had explained the students in Hindi how he had broken the myth of the western model that an enterprise which proves to be a "liability" should be privatized. The students had then bombarded the railway minister with many questions relating to leadership skills and innovation.
Mamta will also have to be prepared for a volley of questions from some of the brightest students in the world. The questions may mainly relate to political leadership and the answers she provides will reflect the impact she has on the students, and also reveal the strategies she had followed to defeat the Left. However, it needs to be seen whether the unpredictable West Bengal CM accepts the invitation in the first place.
