Malware Developers Bringing Authenticity With Cloud
Bangalore: Malware developers have started using cloud computing rapidly to host malicious codes, reveals a report by research firm Solutionary. To add authenticity to their activities, malware makers are reportedly buying server spaces from legitimate domains.
"The cloud has become a preferred mode for malicious actors who are using cloud computing for many of the same reasons that legitimate customers are," the report said. Using cloud, malware distributors can easily built sites in a low cost and make it available online. Getting associated with major hosting providers help them avoid the blacklisting, the report added.
The study also revealed that U.S. leads in malware hosting with 44 percent whereas Germany comes second with nine percent. "Malware and, more specifically, its distributors are using the technologies and services that make processes, application deployment and website creation easier," said Rob Kraus, the research director for Solutionary.
