LPU and Cadence to set up VLSI Lab
Bangalore: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has joined hands with Cadence a very-large-scale integration (VLSI) software maker in the U.S., to set up a VLSI Lab in the LPU campus. This facility would include the industry oriented Electronics Design and Automation (EDA) tools, to help the engineering students learn chip designing. Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, LPU said, "This facility would also be used to cater to the chip designing industry in India and both our faculty and students would be involved in such live projects." Mittal claims that till date it is only a few IITs that equipped its students with this software, but now LPU has joined this league. Measuring the long term benefits of it, Jaswinder Singh Ahuja, Managing Director and Corporate Vice-President of Cadence Design Systems India said, "University system is well established in India and private ones in this scenario respond better to change. This will surely ensure students' career success in the sunrise field and also help to bridge the gap between their academic curriculum and industry readiness."
