Bangalore: Auto404, a new online complaint system holds out hope for action against arrogant autowallas and other road goons. The transport department is looking at integrating it into its own website. A group of techies - Arjun Z, Pravin R, Soumen and Rohan has launched this initiative called Auto404 to help Bangaloreans to register complaints regarding any kind of traffic violation. If you come across rash or drunken driving, foul-mouthed motorists, auto drivers refusing to go to a destination or demanding extra fare, parking or traffic violations, or even smokey exhausts, all you have to do is go to the website and register a complaint.
A Bangalorean Software Development Engineer, Saurabh Minni has also created an android application that simplifies reporting errant auto driver. This application makes it easy to compose email to RTO regarding errant auto driver. Application provides fields to enter auto number, to/fro information and simple check box to select the issue you faced. Going one step ahead, application also allows you to take a picture of number plate!! Once done application generates an email in your favorite email application on android phone and all you have to do is hit 'Send!
The efforts that are taken by theses techies are remarkable. Even though there are different platforms and phone numbers to report misbehaving we end up doing nothing after facing such situation and thus attitudinal change and effective use of such technologies should bring changes in society.
The - Auto404 - initiative already has 113 members while the test website registered seven complaints within a week. "We have had discussions with transport commissioner Bhaskar Rao and officials from various RTOs. They gave us valuable suggestions and said that the complaint system should incorporate not just autos but also buses, cabs and private vehicles, and we have done so. They liked the system and it is in the process of being integrated into the department's website," said Arjun, who works with an internet security company.
