Kochi: Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL), Hyderabad will soon start the construction of its new electronic manufacturing unit worth
60 crore at Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA), Kasargod. About 200 acres of land is estimated to carry for the new plant, reported The Economic Times.
HAL has plan to raise the investment for the plant to 200 crore in the future. The plant is an extension to the Hyderabad Avionic Division which manufactures electronic equipment to be used in the field of communication, radar, navigation, computers and electronic warfare. The plant develops it for the helicopters and aircrafts of the Indian airforce. The set up of the new plan at Kasargod is expected to help HAL to upgrade the manufacturing of its products and to design new versions.
After discussions with Kinfra officials, HAL authorities decided to opt the Kinfra site due to the availability of land, proximity to the Mangalore seaport and airport and rail connectivity. It is believed that the plant will start production by the end of 2009-10.
