Kerala: U.S. Multinationals' Next Big Business Hotspot
From some time, Kerala has been the main source for spices for many multinational food outlets. But now, it looks like its opening up as a booming market. The core reason for it is considered to be the changing lifestyles and food culture.
Infact Hardcastle has already launched their second MAC branch in Kochi and is looking forward to open their third big store. Even KFC is driving as a quick brand with about seven restaurants in Kerala. While these places are mostly preferred by youngsters, even housewives and working officials find these quick-service restaurants convenient and tasty.
Nina Nair, a Kochi-based content writer, says that her family mostly prefers to eat out at least four times a month, and particularly in LuLu Mall. She continued to say that "Each time the choice is between KFC and Domino's Pizza,".
Birth of these multinational food chains has not affected the middle class customers since most of the Keralites work abroad and earn money in dollars. Infact, the free fall of rupee recently has made them happy as the value of their money has increased.
"Keralites, who have migrated to major job markets, are well exposed to the different tastes and food culture," says Naushad, promoter of restaurant chain Naushad the Big Chef.
