Use a firewall
A firewall is a device designed to permit or deny network transmissions and is frequently used to protect networks from unauthorized access. Firewalls can monitor and regulate what should or should not access the internet from your computer. You will have to grant access to all your standard programs, but after that, your firewall will not bug you unless it notices something new attempting to access the internet.
