Is employee hunting a challenge to Indian IT firms?
Bangalore: The Indian IT firms are switching over the economic slowdown to robust recruitment mode. The top three companies like Infy, TCS and Wipro are all set to hire about 100,000 people in 2011, which is much higher than the 20,000 people they hired last year. But the fact is that majority of the Indian companies find it challenging to get the right talent at the right time. Attrition is one of the major challenge and In September quarter alone TCS saw a 14.1 percent of attrition. Majority of the HR managers agreed to the fact that employee hiring in the country is going through a tough time especially in hiring IT workers. Around 53 percent of them find it difficult to get the right candidates. 16 percent of the firms still find it difficult to offer a competitive salary. Other reasons cited by the HR managers are the longer hiring cycles due to the inability to find the qualifications and skill sets required. Unemployment still remains as a major concern for the country in turn its difficult to finding local talent too. Majority of the skilled workforce are centered in certain cities and the rest of the region remain unnoticed. In the midst of huge job opportunities majority of the youth remain unemployed. What may be the reason? The employers are trying to catch the highly skilled manpower but will they be satisfied in their hiring is something we have to wait and watch.
