Bangalore: MeeGo handsets that has been developed by Intel and Nokia by merging Nokia's Maemo and Intel's Moblin operating systems (OS) is not going to hit the market before the first half of 2011. The MeeGo tablets would be released next year but the arrival of netbooks and IPTVs is yet to be revealed, reports Ben Woods of ZDNet. "We have been hitting our dates. We are very pleased with MeeGo's progress so far," said Doug Fisher, Vice President, Intel. Nokia was previously in plans to launch its first MeeGo device before the end of 2010. Presently, N9 is the only Nokia handset based around the Linux based MeeGo OS. Fisher said that, Intel is in talks with at least one other handset maker. Adding significant 'look and feel assets', a developer preview of MeeGo version 1.0 was released in July. Version 1.1 of the platform, which includes touchscreen optimisation, is due to be released to the developer community later this month. Nokia is hoping that at this point of time, it would not be good for the company to bring on another OS as the Finnish company has incurred huge expense of resources and capital on developing MeeGo and Symbian.
