Innovis Telecom Raises Fund From Nokia Growth Partners

Haryana: Gurgaon-based Innovis Telecom, a telecom networking services, has raised an undisclosed amount of investment from Nokia Growth Partners. The fund will be used by the company for its expansion into various markets in Asia-Pacific region. Innovis denied to disclose the amount raised in the round of funding as a matter of policy. The global market for managed services that Innovis deals with is expected to grow to $112 billion by 2012 from $85 billion in 2010, thus providing scope for Innovis to grow in the market.

Co-Founded by SK Acharya and Kapil Sharma, Innovis is an end-to-end provider of services for building wireless and broadband telecom networks. It currently has presence in India and SAARC, Bangladesh, Indonesia, U.S and Africa. Innovis works with Telecom Carriers/Operators and OEMS in Network Planning and Development Services, Network Operations Services, Network Performance Services, Market Entry and Consulting Services and HR-Manpower Consulting Services. Their clientele includes telecom operators, telecom vendors and independent tower companies such as Nokia Siemens Networks, huawei, Ericsson, Alcatel Lucent and AirTel. With a man power of just less an a thousand, Innovis operates in 12 countries.

Talking about the investor’s interest in the company, Kapil Sharma, Co-Founder and CMO, Innovis Telecom, says, “ Innovis is one of the fastest growing telecom services companies in India with presence in booming geographies like India, Africa and Asia Pacific. We differentiate our services by leveraging technology instead of depending on raw manpower. Additionally, we leverage our solid base in India to have a highly competitive cost base. These factors are creating immense value for our shareholders and hence the interest from investing firm.”

Sharma is an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and an Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, has been associated with Indian Telecom Industry since the early days of privatization of telecom sector in mid 90s. Most of his career has been in managing the services business of Nokia Networks and NSN in various geographies like India, China, Asia Pacific, Latin America and North America. Sharma brings with him valuable experience of running complex managed services business.

Talking about the competition, Sharma says, “ Among Indian companies, our main competitors are GTL and Sasken and internationally we compete with companies like Aircom International, Lemcon Networks and others.”
