Bangalore: Campus connect, the industry-academia relations program of Infosys Technologies, is likely to reach the U.S. S Gopalakrishnan, CEO, Infosys, said that some of the U.S. universities have evinced interest in its campus connect program, while addressing a meet of Computer Society of India (CSI), here on Friday.
This program, which reaches out to 380 colleges in the country, focuses on aligning the needs of engineering colleges, the faculty and students with the needs of the industry. Though, nothing has been finalized as yet, Gopalakrishnan said that the U.S. universities are keen on adopting its academic materials for the faculty and not for the students. Campus Connect has already been extended to countries like Malaysia and Singapore.
Campus connect was started by Infosys in 2004. Some of the initiatives included in the program are seminars and faculty workshops in colleges, working with education bodies to help college curriculum with industry requirements, sabbatical for professors to pursue research interests with Infosys and project work for students. "These initiatives are needed to create industry ready professionals as there is a severe shortage in it," said Gopalakrishnan.
