India's Mid-Day Meals: Death Served On a Platter

Further, soon after this tragedy struck the state, the opposition parties took the opportunity to put down the Nitish Kumar government in the wharf for the mid-day meal disaster.

However, this isn’t the first case of negligence that is reported on part of government schools in the state as in the past dead lizards, frogs and a rat were found in the food cooked for the mid-day meal.

But the Nitish Kumar government seems to be swift on their feet and they released a prominent ad in newspapers instructing the principal and cooks in schools to first taste the free mid-day meal before it is given to children. It has also instructed officials in charge of examining the meals to taste the food and record the quality.

While this incident has come as a shock to all, it clearly highlights the negligence on the part of the government as well as the schools in handling the free mid-day meals that have claimed many innocent lives.
